meambobbo you have it exactly right. At the moment, the biggest cultural influence that libertarianism has had is through Ayn Rand’s work. But that’s hardly enough to sustain a movement in the long-term. We need more like her, and also more in different mediums.
EDIT: of course, Rand wasn’t a libertarian (and she despised the term). However, you get what I mean.

I’m a huge Penn fan as well. In fact, as sad is this sounds, I would say his show “Bullshit” is one of the big reasons why I became a Libertarian.
I started watching the show before I even knew what Libertarianism was and found myself agreeing with an overwhelming majority of their ideas while laughing my ass off at the same time.
I’ve tried turning other folks onto the show in the hopes of planting the seeds of embracing Freedom, but I’ve yet to have much success.
I also saw their live show at the Rio in Vegas back February and it was great too, I think this bit is one of the staples and seems to at least get the sheeple to start thinking about freedom:

First, decide what your goals are. Try to set realistic objectives, short, medium and long.
When you know exactly what you are trying to achieve, the path to that goal becomes a lot clearer.
again I ask why libertarianism is so unpopular. people give reasons but dont give reasons for those reasons. why did millions of unwached masses and intellectuals exbrace marxism and pro-capitalist libertarianism is mostly embraced by middle-class college kids in America? the problem is not the message, the problem is that the message sucks for the everyman. nothing can change that, period. the hot looking “woman” of socialism can never be oversold by the bookish librarian of libertarians. giles said it already- if masses were to choose, they would choose social democracy. dont forget that the pensioners in russia and still calling for the good 'ol days of despotism.
