But I would say that this sort of ‘popular/political’ exposure is not very ‘serious’. This is not to say, for example, that Progressives don’t take the imaginary ‘Reactionary Threat’ seriously - they do, very seriously. But they don’t treat it seriously, deal with it seriously. Progressives don’t know what the ‘reactionary threat’ really even is. The same goes for Mises - he gets dismissed as a ‘free market dogmatist’; without much more differentiation.
That depends - he did occupy positions in the Austrian government IIRC. But yeah, I think you’re probably right that his persecution by the Nazis was more to do with his general views than any specific fact about him. Then again I haven’t read his biography.
