I barely know what the capital of Germany is. I think its Berlin but Im not sure.
See what I said about trading anecdotes above. You’re just sloothing for some free market policy and then attempting to say that its the reason for the country’s success. Lefties are going to turn around and say “hur hur its their education system and social support networks”. What are you going to say? You both now have the burden of measuring the economic effect of these policies. They will say that your’s is “insignificant” while theirs is “fundamental”. You will say the opposite.
It is PURE LIP SERVICE. In truth, neither of you know how much these policies matter. You’re going to sit around making crude isotemporal ad hoc ergo propter hoc arguments like a bunch of cavemen. “Oh yeah in 1968 they lowered the minimum wage and growth for that year was 2 points higher than the previous.” And then they’ll apply the same logic to their case and against your case, and it will be a giant unmitigated waste of time.
So that’s why I love my econometric model. I just plop it down. It falfisies 95% of their empiricism. They can’t argue against it because they’re mathematical morons (but the model actually makes decent economic and statistical sense). And then you offer them a “truce” where you throw out empiricism and just debate theory, which is also tedious but its where you want to be.
TLDR - evidence sloothing is a waste of everyone’s time.
