lol… it worked. i stopped reading when i read that.
My guess as to why they used a megacorporation like MNU was that you aren’t going to offend any real life entities, whereas using the South African government (or any real life government, or a government that seems based on one) would. I seriously doubt a large entity like that which seems to have extensive government connections could be called a product of the free market (though, we aren’t told which country MNU originates from, though it’s CEO is black)
In all honesty, it felt like it was an Aesop for South Africans. As such, the applicability of it’s themes are somewhat lesser to outsiders. I thought presenting a science fiction film in documentary format was an original idea, and it’s themes are far more tolerable than 'viro stuff like WALL-E.
For a Tarantino rip off of Valkryie & Zwartboek (Black Book), I thought it was good fun. D9 doesn’t interest me at all though.
The movie was complete garbage.
