They withdrew from the US. After asking for surrender, AFTER offering to compensate the Union for the property it was annexing.
It’s completely nonsensical to claim the US government had any authority in the South after the South seceded. If the South had gone into Northern territory and attacked, that would be aggression. This was not aggression. The Union were in their territory after being asked to leave.
