The only reason it bugs people who only believe in traditional marriage is because the government recognizing gay marriage is like the people themselves recognizing it since they believe the government represents them. As long as the government got out of it, there’d be no battle to have. It’d be just another social issue like it should be.
If someone used that point in a discussion with me, I’d stamp a big red “FAIL” on their forehead. If gov’t is supposed to represent them, what about the same-sex couple down the street?
And what if there wasn’t broad support? Do you think there’d be a conflict over an issue that “neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg?”
The other side is using the same argument, though. That’s what I’m saying. Asking the government to recognize same-sex marriage is just as bad as asking the government not to recognize same-sex marriage. It’s a false conflict because different people are fighting to make sure that the government represents them instead of someone else when really everything would be fine without the government and with people ‘representing’ their own individual lives.
exactly my views
but on the other hand, there is no suprise, that you get accused by gay community, after all, they are mostly statists themselves and couldn’t understand what you mean. They have to love liberty and understand NAP in a first place. Otherwise, for them (and not only them) your arguments are just another “homophobe” rantings. Just sayin’. PEACE
“I love music but I don’t recognize rap, heavy metal, and Christian contemporary music as genuinely musical.”
Kind of a weird statement to make. That’s like saying the guy down the street from is not a human male but a short-tentacled encephalopod from Ganymede because I dont like him.
