No. They built a blimp using donated funds and flew it around.
The investment bankers who put together CDO’s and the credit default swaps insuring them are the ones who tried to model the market. Didn’t work out so well. Same thing with the LTCM fund a decade or so back.
And having higher paid employees will make your business competitive how? What is the upside of increasing costs by making an investment up front?
Why not pay the employees $20 an hour?
Anyone can start a business with higher costs. You do understand that profit is created when costs go down and sales go up?
Ah, the scheme comes out…
I am trying not to laugh. This is something out of a dystopian Jetsons future where George presses a button on the wall panel and it tells him what to believe and who to associate with today.
This is complete rubbish. First of all, it is rent SEEKING, not rent searching. Natural allocation is based upon capital investment. If they are paying to advertise, then that is NATURAL! That is the market in action. Your “detriment of others” argument is about externalities. It’s irrelevant.
This is my point. You think that advertising should be free based on mass action, completely missing the point that someone is footing the bill for Reddit. Reddit does not run for free. The people who maintain the internet hubs and routers, all like to be able to pay rent and eat. The people who design the software, all like hot running water and bahama vacations.
Ugh.
As dictated by you. As dictated by your software.
You have just exposed yourself as not understanding even the basics like marginal utility and opportunity cost.
The biggest problem with predicting social order is the fact that it is instantiated not from the collections of individuals, but from the individuals themselves. In this context, social order is an irreducible pattern between individuals (like an ad hoc network among “smart nodes”). The means to produce an algorithm about how it will shape up to be is logically impossible.
At best, we have Dijkstra’s Algorithm that can produce less-than-optimal paths for a network, but that’s it. It cannot tell us what the whole of the network is, it cannot tell us what is the perfect shape of the network (the distribution of connections vs nodes vs the “cost” of each connection to each node…).
If you are able to produce such an algorithm, not only would you get a Nobel Prize (and possibly the Fields Medal). And if you can integrate it with the several other scientific fields such as psychology, neurology, information theory, network theory, anthropology, and etc, then you’ll pretty much be Einstein on steroids. Anyways, my point is to offer proof (mathematical) that such such an algorithm is possible, rather than just stating that it is.
Indivudal entreprenuers in the community insite mass collaboration. The reason why I tend to emphasize community and mass collaboration is because with them it takes less entreprenurial might from single individuals to make a business succeed. The ease with which a business can form will make it easier for businesses with unconventional purposes to succeed. For example an entreprenuer might start a business for the purpose of making $1 lattes available from a store like starbucks, instead of earning a profit. They might start a business for the purpose of flyiing a blimp for a few weeks with Ron Paul’s name on it. The community can comphesate for lack of skills on the part of individuals with mass collaboration.
What I mean by community and mass collaboration business, is that a community will negotiate terms of a business and establish demand prior to existing.
The way I see it groups or indivuals are all just resources.
you have described a not-for profit business, a contradiction in terms, perhaps you meant a charity?
yes, you mean charity.
What are you talking about?> consumers dictate to business how they should run, they buy or dont buy, they dont shop at business that they dissaprove of and they take their money to ones who offer products more to their likeing, profit and loss does this.
“establish demand prior to existing” ? (1) demand is established prior to demand existing? (2) community is prior to demand existing? Not sure what you said
Resources to be harvested by whom? This sentence is bothersome. People are more than boxes or iron ore mined.
Wow, that’s so encouraging! I’m so excited to be in school right now. I’ve always been fascinated by this question: Are there problems that cannot be solved yet still have solutions?
Hmm. I guess I’ll have to find some way to turn every person into one giant person. That will solve the problem of social order, won’t it?
One giant person can’t reason. Individuals reason. And what makes you think the problem of the “social order” has to do with individuals? This lacks context.
Why should I attempt to disprove an argument that I agree with? It is amusing that a disagreement with his rhetorical approach implied (to you) a disagreement with his conclusion.
