Is BitCoin the currency of the future?

This statement is incorrect, particularly the bolded part. BitCoins have value to some people and the reason for that is inconsequential. Whether they value it as a collectable, for alltruistic reasons, philisophical reasons, religious reasons or predicted future value reasons is of no consequence as shown here:

BitCoins do not have to have value in direct exchange to you, they only have to have value in direct exchange to one person as shown here:

I do not value gold in direct exchange. It has 0 direct value to me. That does not mean I am unwilling or unable to use it as a medium of exchange.
