I thought that Rothbard wasn’t an acceptable source on Austrian economics.
It depends on the context.
Rothbard saying “This is what I think” doesn’t cut it.
Rothbard saying “This is a tenet of Austrian thought” would (assuming it’s in a book/article, not just an interview, and also assuming there aren’t an equivalent number of similar books/articles saying otherwise).

The problem is that there aren’t any official Austrian tenets. The tenets of the Austrian school are just the beliefs of those individuals classified as Austrian economists. Thus by definition the tenets can only be known by reading people like Rothbard saying “this is what I think”. Any secondary source that talks of Austrian tenets is simply deducing/copying them from “this is what I think” type comments.
Ok, I apologize for being a dick. I have to read this thing for school and what is being said there really frustrates me. (I keep taking breaks to check here…) But, I see what you are saying. However, the Austrian school is built around the correctness of Say’s Law(s). One might call it an “assumption” but it is pretty much regarded as a tautology.
What makes it a tenet is that it is not challenged by any Austrians (as far as I know) and it is implied in the core of the deduction of perphrial S&D laws.

That’s true. It’s a lot like “existentialism” in that regard. Still, it doesn’t change how the site works. LOL.
Maybe the Mises Institute should draft an official ‘This is Austrian economics’ thing.
