I don’t get it. Are you saying that John Vernon is a conservative who runs this site?

Stop living in the 90s, Blake. Whatever did or did not happen then, look at how white-on-black police brutality is treated on lewrockwell.com now (since your attempt to smear is aimed directly at Mr. Rockwell… and by the way, any further attempts will earn you a ban).

And these are just from the past 3 days:

@WillBlake

Taken from the text provided one would assume that Hoppe was in favor of violating the non-aggression principle. As I made note in my examples, at no point was the NAP violated. The employer accepted the lost of profits from removing the pro-Unionist worker for the sake of trying to remove any potential Unions from forming. The gated community has accepted any monetary profit from selling the house to the athiest. At neither point was violence initiated.

@gocrew

You’ll have to forgive me in my terminology. I take it to granted that when discussing homosexuals one is referencing a subculture that exists within a faction of homosexual individuals. Like I said before, there is nothing wrong with homosexuals by virtue of them being homosexuals. There is however a problem with those in a subculture that promotes breaking up the ‘traditional’ family, as far as a family-based community is concerned. As Hoppe clarifies in a later article regarding immigration, small numbers of people leading different lifestyles is fine, but too large a number is likely to cause escalation of tensions between groups if only because of different social norms. Having a few bachelors, hetersexual or homosexual, might be great for the baby sitting industry, but under certain conditions it causes more trouble than its worth.

Look at the large numbers of bachelor chinese at the turn of the last century and how conflicts between them and ‘American’ men arose over competition for women. Admittedly things were aggregavated by state rulings that made it hard for chinese bachelors to bring wives over from their homes, but I think we would have seen a similar fiasco even absent these rulings. Hoppe himself seems to have been more concerned about European communities being wiped out by rival groups (e.g. the Germans in the Czech Republic/Bohemia), and Rothbard seems to have grown similarly concerned about the baltic states being wiped out as a cultural group by the Russians; but the same root problem presents itself: sometimes difference in communities make it undesirable for integration.

Don’t get me wrong, commerce is a great way of pacifying relationships between individuals, but simply because different cultures can work together in the work sphere does not mean they are as ready to inter-mingle their home lives and this is what Hoppe is discussing in the original excerpt work.

P.S. I feel it neccesary to clarify I am not saying that a ‘traditional’ family-based community is the best community. Nor am I saying an ‘alternative’ lifestyle is best. As far as I’m concerned this is a subjective preference to be decided by persons on their own. I myself prefer the former, but that does not mean I’d violate the NAP to impose anything on the latter.

Looks like the RNC has their eye on mises.org!

I don’t know, I don’t care, and that was not my point. I was only providing an example of extreme bigotry and conservatism.

That’s your way of dealing with inconvenient truths, no? pretty handy…

But he does use Marxist analysis.

What inconvenient truths?

That’s your way of dealing with inconvenient truths, no? pretty handy…

It’s the way we deal with people who violate forum policy, which prohibits attacks against LvMI staff and scholars. Lew Rockwell is chairman of the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and this server space is LvMI property. You smear a host at a party, you get kicked out. You smear a shareholder at a place of business, you get kicked out. This is no different. I was giving you a second chance, but since you’re being an intransigent jerk about it, you’re gone: permanently.

What do you mean? (apart from evasion, that is)

That you’re an idiot who can’t take things in their proper context?

Hint: providing context behind words isn’t evasion.

I don’t know, I don’t care, and that was not my point. I was only providing an example of extreme bigotry and conservatism.

This, on the other hand, is sheer evasion, when confronted with the contexct behind the words. Hypocrisy at its finest.
