Buddhism is New Age?
No, I consider myself somewhat of a buddhist. What’s new age is the tendency to think Budhism anything different than any other belief system. Sorry if I that didn’t come out right.
Lol by that token I’m somewhat of a muslim. There’s concepts Islam contains that I agree with. Though I am an atheist and consider myself epicurean.
Laotzu, I figured you were a Taoist. Taoism and Buddhism are totally different, though, as I’m sure you’re aware. Wu wei or abolishing desire? Me thinks one can’t be much of a capitalist and a Buddhist since the possession of private property runs counter to Buddhism.

Are we not allowed to borrow ideas we like? There are thinks in Buddhism and Taoism I think make sense, but I don’t embrace all of. I reject things I don’t like.

But I like the concepts of non-attachment, common sense and empirical thinking, and worrying more about making the physical world a better place than worrying whether or not there is a God or heaven.

So the article isn’t worthy of your time because it would mess with the views you’ve taken from reading answeringislam.com(plenty of people have debated with the authors of that website, you can search for it yourself since that’s the “side” you decided to be interested in) .
You don’t even acknowledge that many hadith’s(and by extension bukhari) are by no means a good source of any interpretation of Quran, or even Muhammad’s life for that matter. The case that Abrogation exists is extremely flimsy. Whatever you consider the “well-accepted” doctrine doesn’t necessarily make it true. Most people believe democracy is what gives them freedom, or that capitalism is based on slave-labor- true study shows different.
But you know none of this is new, whether its Muslims, or Christians, or even people who have no particular faith- everyone has to defend their views against SOMEONE who wants to believe that they’re just out to slaughter everyone in sight, pointing fingers at who are the real savages among men. I’m pretty sure you’ve done this dance before- my view is that your agenda is pointless.

No the article isn’t worth my time because it’s based on a false premise. That the Koran is a perfect book. Like I said before, it didn’t even do a good job in proving the doctrine of abrogation is some sort of giant lie, which it’s clearly not.
If the doctrine of abrogation doesn’t exist then please explain why drinking and gambling are Haram despite the earlier quaranic verses not prohibiting it.
Again the doctrine exists and has credibility in the majority of the Muslim world.
