Wow this is a socialist dream. We here in the US are not far behind. I know for sure not all Brazilians like this idea. And the survey that said 70% were happy were probably regular employees and not small business owners.
Speaking about private property and what you can do, me and my dad are facing a similar issue. I have an old civic that we are fixing and we left it parked in from of our front lawn. All of a sudden we get the local sheriff come knock on our door charging us with a code violation of leaving a non moving vehicle or abandon vehicle on my OWN FRONT LAWN. We were like ,“Ok lets just move it to the back of the house so the neighbors wont see it and it wont bother them”. Just this week we get fined AGAIN FOR THE SAME KIND OF VIOLATION!!! I was pissed!! Now i cant put nothing in my own backyard and take my own time fixing my car. What a racket!! Seriously this is insane I want to find the neighbor that is rating me out or maybe its the sheriff that is bored and drives by my house and looks inside my backyard. What is happening to our country? My parents are from Dominican Republic and I go back there at least 3 times a year to help my dad out with his business and they have more freedom to do what the heck you want on your own property.
I was born here in the states and I am glad God has given me and bless me with the opportunity to live in this country. I have finally for the past 2 years discovered the truth of capitalism, Austrian economics and libertarianism and learned so much that unfortunately many latinos do not understand because they are infected with the “disease” of take from the rich and give to the poor. Or my favorite “Let the government do it they can solve all of our problems” LoL.
But back to this subject DR fails in the security (high crime) area which is why foreign investors worry about a lot. But as far as capitalism goes in the private sector many small businesses/entrepreneurs open their own “bodegas” or “colmados” and paint the outside of their building to advertise their store and just that drives 95% of the traffic to their business. the rest is word of mouth since these small businesses people cant afford to do radio or tv advertisement. If they were to pass such a ridiculous law as to get rid of billboards there would probably be a revolt or massive protests over there.
It is most interesting to note that public property, as used here, seems to be “property not for the use of the public.”
