But to first take your examples. Eliminating Social Security and Medicare? This is not discussing any issue in terms of the present. Social Security and Medicare will not get eliminated in the next five years, if at all. That’s good, because Mises.org takes the long view here. On the other hand, you have Reason,.etc discussing middle-of-the-road solutions that are being proposed by Republican Congressman right now, because that is the most they can do.

1. There will not be any small, partial cuts in Social Security and Medicare either, so Reason is being no more ‘in the now’.

2. If small, partial cuts of Social Security and Medicare happened, it would have much less to do with Reason, and much more to do with people demanding radical cuts, or their wholesale elimination.

3. If Reason was as interested in small, partial cuts of Social Security and Medicare as it should be, it would play the dialectic and be relentless in its demands for them to be eliminated.

You are not dumb, you can figure this out:

Who did more to prevent Bush going into Syria or Iran after he was done with Iraq, the people who want to see the total dismantling of US empire yesterday, or the people who would like a 5% reduction of troops station in Germany and a 10% reduction of troops stationed in Korea over the next 10 years? Who is easier to ignore?
