Nope. What happened was all the votes for “fringe candidates” last year, those people dropped them and voted for Ron Paul instead. An analysis and report of the demographics was on LRC.
He’s gotten a lot of air time on MSM after having won the straw poll. In every interview I’ve seen since then he’s spoken about Austrian economics, even going as far as to cite the likes of Rothbard and Mises, among a couple of others. You gotta give it to RP, he’s brought a lot of attention to the Austrian school since his campaign.

Long term project - video about Ron & the Austrian School / Libertarianism… with the hope of encouraging the ‘supporters’ to do what he says, and go educate themselves in the philosophy - NOT the policies.

I’ve heard Ron often talk about, or reference, Austrian economics in many of his videos; I’m sure you can find plenty on youtube, or from C4L.
This is one of the videos I was talking about before–an interview after with him on Morning Joe (MSNBC) after he dominated the CPAC straw poll. He talks about the Austrian school several times, references and gives credit to Mises, Rothbard and Hayek, talks about the Fed’s role in creating bubbles, and speaks a bit about free-market economics in general.

The main reason I would want a libertarian president is because maybe he could appoint a radical libertarian supreme court to interpret the 10th amendment properly and roll back most of the state.
If we could get a libertarian supreme court couldn’t they roll back the state rather quickly? Any power the federal government has that isn’t explicitly listed in the constitution could be declared unconstitutional.
Edit: It appears as though the media is starting to respect him now even on MSNBC it appears constitutional minarchy is no longer a loony position.
