Good point. The powers that be discrediting Mises definitely seems more likely. I actually have not read any Mises (should probably get on that), just Rothbard and other Austrian lectures/articles. But since Mises helped to create the tradition, you could say his views have helped me achieve a libertarian stance.
Here’s the bottom line. Controlled opposition exists, and it is one of the most important tactics employed by TPTB. The left/right paradigm in mainstream politics is an obvious example, but there are certainly much more subtle examples everywhere. In order for a freedom movement to succeed, we must know who our true friends and true enemies are. We must face reality however difficult and hopeless it is. On the other hand, we can become paralyzed and isolated by being too paranoid and not trusting anyone. We need to find a balance.
Yeah, it seems like he’s created quite a money-making empire. But what about the quality of the information? I watched The Obama Deception and most of it seemed accurate, but that was just my feeling. And if he’s just in it for the money, why does he dedicate so much time to spreading the word? Why not take the money and run?
The alex jones crap is just trivia bites and jeapordy answers conspiracy theory style, meant to appeal to the dumb masses of “critical thinkers”. Its the same as ufo “i want to believe” crap of past days
WOW - I feel like an old fart- I guess to you I am.. I’m 44 and been reading mises.org for about 7-8 years.
I just want to say this: regardless of ALL the other ideas, philosophies, “truths” etc.etc. there is one thing that I have learned beyond a shadow of a doubt:
95% ++ of everything government does turns to shit and hurts more people than it “helps”.. except of course the politicians - their programs always help them and their friends… that is all the truth you need to know…
