We have Mises: The Musical. And I remember the Songs from the Mises Kreis.
I think An-cap is closest to the esoteric creed. But it’s not really a secret.
Scientology looks more like a cult to me than the Mises Institute.
$cientLOLogy, you mean. And if you call it a cult, Tom Cruise personally sues you.
Let’s not forget that we also have a play and that Mozart was a Red!
Watch closely and you might see someone you know from the forum…!
Jeffery Tucker. Sorry for spoiling it.
Why did you do that? ![]()

It’s not a cult, it just has really close membership. And why not? its a small group. Everyone attending a mises seminar can meet and talk with everyone else. It’s great. Obviously the climate for the last 20 years has prevented really explosive growth, but membership is going to skyrocket now that things are breaking down and the truth is beginning to come out about government.
Cult is just an extreme: The “grey” area between it and total isolation includes of “community” and “friendship”. Every personal relationship of group of people is going to be “culty” at times. Social pressure and tendency toward conformity are a part of any voluntary association.
I look at the institute asking me for money as I would a friend asking me to watch his cat. And yeah, chances are I’d get some preferential treatment if I donated 100grand to them. Big deal!
The institute has a fairly large community plus alot of web traffic. Wouldn’t it be more of an established religion?[:P]
Away with your sensible observations! We have songs and musicals, and are therefore clearly a cult.
