Its not the collapse of the “gang” that causes the problem, its the collapse of the economic system of food and energy distribution. I assume many of the artificial barriers are still in the way and still being enforced by the “gang”. One problem they have is that the cost of electricity has skyrocketed. The state monopoly of electricity production is still in place, barring the market from solving the problem.
Black markets have sprung up, literally “stores” set up in old warehouses that one can go to to buy items that the “white” market no longer supplies. These black market stores have their own “security”. So the market is trying to respond where it can.
Because a lot of gangsters lose their steady income and have to creatively find a new way to make a living.
I tend to see this a little like Stranger…
I doubt many of our Soldiers and Marines will fire at American citizens. But at the same time, I expect a lot of unrest among the population. I see starvation and lack of resources in general being an issue, and total anarchy wouldn’t suprise me a bit.
But I don’t think it’d last too long. Everything balances out eventually.. it’s just a question of how long it takes.

Individual states would be the first to go. Not all states are in the same boat. California, New York, New Jersey - basically any state that’s bought into the socialist agenda and have spent accordingly are in real trouble. The Federal government will then step in and force the other states to pay up and go into a triage mode. Only the worst run states will receive Federal funds, which they’ve siezed from the rest of the country. A lot of states will push for legal secession, only to see the Federal government use force to keep the union together. From that point you have a second civil war.
Before we get to that point, I think the US currency will collapse. That brings with it a whole lot of other problems, however I don’t think every state is impacted in quite the same way. With a currency collapse, people will move to other commodities. Each state may go with their own currency backed by some commodity they have available - may not necessarily be gold or silver. Food may in fact be the most immediate commodity used for exchange or as backing, given the nature of things (at least until people become more self reliant). Eventually, private money will stabilize the situation, but that under-cuts the Federal government and provides them with the greatest motivation to use force.
To fund the war, the Federal government will use its gold reserves until that is used up, and then it may use coercion to basically rob other weaker countries (essentially becoming a pirate nation). The big question is how the military will respond. I believe there’s a large portion of people in the military who aren’t for fighting a civil war, and would rather stand down. The Supreme Court will rule that any secession movement is unconstitutional. So you have the official Federal government legal position on one hand, and freedom on the other. It’s hard to say how this pans out, and which military assets fall to which sides. The second civil war could be as bloody as the first, or it could just fizzle out as the Federal government loses its credibility. When does the Federal government call in the UN?
The situation in some states will turn real ugly. California could end up breaking up into two or more smaller states. Some areas will indeed turn into a sort of no-mans-land. Most of the country, however, will fall back to local governments. Cities will be a little harder to protect, but overall it’s not the end of the world. I think there’s more to worry about in what the Federal government decides to do, and just how much the political class in power is willing to take things in their attempt to keep power. I would imagine that the states in the best shape will come together to form their own confederacy, but retain their sovereignty. Would that possibly lead to a 2nd United States of America? And so the cycle repeats itself with no real lesson learned.

I know I asked the question, so me picking “right” answers is kinda void - but I only asked to see what the mass consciousness would respond with. I think it’s a good indicator of things to come (ie through will and expectation).
Anyway - I live in Rochester, New York. And let me tell ya - we’re fucked lol I have a GREAT Congressman (Chris Lee) and he was pointing out that NY State is the biggest ‘entitlement State’ in the Union. Which it is. And when people’s welfare/social security doesn’t buy much, I think we can expect a huge increase in violent crime… robberies, home invasions, kidnappings, etc. Also, people in New York State tend to think that all guns are for murder, not self-defense. So alot of people are going to find themselves at the mercy of the larger gangs (“Crips”, “Bloods”; these gangs are hardly organized.. MS13 is a big concern of mine).
In regards to the largest gang - the Federal Government and their goonies, I wouldn’t be a bit suprised if they instituted some form of Martial Law and attempted to deny our common liberties… especially the Right to Bear Arms. I believe your estimate that the majority of the armed forces would refuse to fire upon American citizens, or attempt confiscation of weapons. However, I can’t speak for every National Guardsman etc. I think most would stand down and there might even be an open rebellion at that point. Just me speculating here. Many of our soldiers, Marines, & police officers - I’m SURE - are private gun owners. I doubt they’d be too thrilled.
As far as Secession goes, I could see the Supreme Court deciding that it’s not valid. But seceding States aren’t going to honor the Supreme Court! lol So who cares. I see Texas going ahead of most in seceding, and I’m sure the former ‘seperatists’ would join. At that point, the Federal Government is cut in half, so to speak. It’s not like before where industrialization and good leaders are predominantly in the Northern parts - I’d say a lot of that has shifted.
And in all honesty, the Feds can’t win. The FBI estimates there’s 200 Million privately owned firearms in the United States alone… millions of firearms were sold every month for 3 months before Barry Soetoro’s election. And about 1.5 Billion rounds of ammunition.
