Obama was voted president, so racism no longer exists in America (at least in the minds of those who voted for Obama to obsolved themselves of white guilt).
Outside of the so called racist news letters, you have racist/WP groups supporting Ron Paul. I don’t know about this election, but I think during the 2008 one StormFront was encouraging it’s members/users to donate to his campaign.

Ron Paul has already been attacked ad nauseam for his “funny” or “dangerous” views on pretty much anything, from economics to foreign politics. And people still go out and vote for him. And after all the “crankish” science hosted on LRC is harmless, not like the “global warming” fraud perpetrated by Science, Scientific American, Nature etc for over a decade now.
Also a simple Internet search will reveal where Ron Paul got most of his “crazy” ideas: a worthless document called the Constitution of the United States and a bunch of weirdos carrying funny names such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.
Thomas Jefferson? That’s heresy. That guy had connections to French free-market economists, and being French isn’t American. Y’know the Constitution is a living document, it has to grow just like government.
Yes, that Thomas Jefferson was a bad, rotten apple. He had all these weird ideas about staying out of foreign wars, fraternized with those Frenchmen who had these silly ideas about the free market and even rebelled against his own sovereign! The only person worse than him is that George Washington fellow. Even had the audacity of leading an insurgency, for crying out loud!
It’s funny how the public is revolted by anarchy but maybe half of it firmly belives in men (Jefferson and Washington) who overthrew their government.

Paul supporters tend to wave off the racism stuff, but to people who haven’t read Paul or understand where he’s coming from, it’s pretty shocking. You have the racist newsletters (which, contratry to what some other people say, are not “vaugely” racist, but full on), and his flubbing apology/lack of denial during his 1996 run for Congress. You also have people like Stormfront supporting him. There’s some picture floating around where a higher up from Stormfront or something took a picture with Paul when he met him at some event, and it gets flaunted around as proof of some connection. Then people see that he’s criticized the Civil Rights Act, the 14th Amendment, and talks about States Rights, they connect the imaginary dotted lines, and the damage is done.
Of course from reading Paul’s actual opinons, who he cites, and general libertarian philsophy, it’s all pretty much bunk. But because of these associations and assumptions he’s not the ideal, flawless candidate. But he’s the best we’ve got. I’m still young and I’m hoping that someone will come out the woodwork who isn’t stained by some of these issues, but understands the theory as well as Paul does.
As an aside, I’ve never been a fan of Lew Rockwell, and he was the one fingered for having ghost written the newsletters. Frankly, they read like they were written by him, his style is usually pretty flamboyant and inflammatory, without a whole lot of substance or original thought. If Paul has to distance himself from Lew, I’d be tickled pink. The Mises Institute, on the other hand, is a lot more respectable as a whole, despite Rockwell’s association.
Yeah, we get that you don’t like Rockwell, lord knows why. and by ‘Rockwells association’ do you mean that he was the founder and its first president ?
