I think I made my point abundantly clear. What’s more, we’ve had this discussion before and frankly, I believe you confuse, on purpose, political freedom with free will. That, or you don’t really understand the difference between them in which case I can’t help you.
But truly, I think you understand it pretty well and you are stirring controversy for controversy’s sake.
Oh and I don’t need you or wildernesss, or worse, somebody like Max preaching how free we are and how freedom is just a personal state of mind or somesuch nonsense.
You sound like a cheap self-help guru.
Please go ahead. I delegate to you the defense of my rights =P
And yet that didn’t stop you from participating, until it was time for you to own up to being wrong.
It’s fine. It’s expected.
I’m not into violence. But if how can I resist at all? Isn’t it your claim that my free will has been taken from me because there is no political freedom anywhere in the world?
Look, I know my English is below average. However, I don’t think I’m completely unable to get a couple of points across. I believe I correctly articulated at least two points :
free will can’t be destroyed - except by killing a free-willed moral agent- which destroy the agent and his free-will.
political freedom - being able to act in the real world as a free moral agent - is not the same thing as free will.
Maybe Nir or somebody else can confirm that I used the English language in a more or less correct way to convey these ideas.
Now, I don’t know what you think I’m wrong about. And this :
is not something I claimed. So, to use one of your favorite words, you might be attempting to straw-man me.
Don’t use this copout. You haven’t satisfied the question, whatever the limitations of your English may be.
You haven’t explained yourself. If we always have free will, until death, then what stops us from making a choice? You claim, lack of political freedom. But you haven’t explained how it subverts our free will.
No, I am asking for clarification. Which wouldn’t have been necessary, if you didn’t let someone else speak for you.
So let me ask you again, is there political freedom anywhere in the world? And if not, does this mean no one can exercise their free will?
Here’s a cow. Here’s a dog. They are not the same thing. Why ?
It’s not a copout. I truly wonder if communication fails because my English fails or you just don’t get it. I’m trying to ascertain if it’s a problem with my English, though the possibility that you just don’t get it seems quite real.
I didn’t say we are stopped from making choices. COERCION prevents us from putting those choices into practice. Again, I utterly fail to see what’s controversial about what I’m saying.
I didn’t say it ‘subverts’ our free will. COERCION prevents us from doing what we want to do.
As I said, I made the same point in LOTS of messages. I’m not saying anything new. I said the same things even before Nir was a member of the forum
For the nth time. Are you confused ? Are you misrepresenting what I say on purpose ? Playing dumb ? Or what ?
If you’re not capable of answering (and no, I don’t think it is a language problem), that is fine. It is expected. You’re very loud on offense, but remarkably shy when you have to explain your own views.
Say whatever you want. The real problem is you and your understanding of things, or rather lack of it. And guess what, the one dodging here is you. I clearly stated a clear position and you keep on making dishonest/stupid questions.
