I read LRC for a long time, but I cannot stand anymore.
I read the Economist religiously for 2 years – it had a similar effect, making me into a social liberal, fiscal conservative, but not a “radical” or “extremist”. Now I can’t even pick it up due to their claims that countries “must take more in tax” in order to boost their economies etc.
Plus they’re all 20something PPE graduates from Jesus college (one of the lowest on the Norrington table) apparently.
Why is that?
A lot of every kind of person there, and they manage to stay on top of important developments and give a great amount of perspective and detail. If it’s about economics or politics, though, I always check in the libertarian media as well, or post a dissenting opinion on reddit. Always good for a laugh, too!
Why not?
LRC can be a bit depressing to read every day. Mises.org has more of a balance of the negative and the positive.
You get Gary’s daily commentary on economic news plus other advice articles. Plus access to his digital library of publications / books and of course the archives of all his articles written in the past. Also, access to his members-only forum where you can ask Gary (and other members) specific questions. Well worth the fee.
IMO mises.org is bland. LRC is more lively.
I like it here better, it’s deals more strictly with economics and usually history too, which I like.
A lot of times on LRC there will be articles about conspiracy theories and health tips which I find boring.
But it still has mostly good stuff, I visit there daily, it definetely has a variety of articles, I’ll say that.
I concur, as a happy subscriber of 3 months. Gary North is a fine source for economic analysis and business advice.
