I also admit to a certain conspiracy-thinking primarily because IMO assuming they exist provides sufficient causes and unifies the whole gamut of effects we see in the world, while assuming they don’t exist leads to contradictions -effects occur which shouldn’t occur in the assumed absense of conspiracy (there is a market bubble w/o any FED-like organization). I agree that somethings are wacky but that only inspires one to research ever more carefully and it is true that something’s wackiness doen’t have to do with its truth.
Well, I didn’t call you a nutcase, because I actually don’t quite understand what you believe and how far can would you go trying to convince someone with your views.
For example, I am ok with religious people as long as they don’t preach and don’t try to convert me. I think they would be ok with atheists too in the same way.
But sure, reality is not just about “live and let live” but about objective truth, and if one wants to universalize some idea and want others to accept it, then he have a big job to prove it with rational, logical and consistent arguments and show the evidence.
Part of my philosophy is being humble to new knowledge (especially in fields where I know nothing about) and don’t try to take moral/rational whatever high ground but at the same trying to evaluate every such controversy (so to speak) with critical thinking, not just blind acceptance.
It is easy to fool oneself into believing something is true when actually it is just an illusion that most people fall for because of our nature (brain structure in this context).
P.S. and history is the biggest conspiracy ever. I can’t believe that I spend 12 years in my life learning some peoples’ subjective views on history and not just objective facts (as long as there is evidence for them).
What I mean is that State’s public education taught me that wars were good (as long our natives conquered other people and so on). That I should be proud that kings slaughtered thousandss trying to save “our land”, This all pseudo-religious-nationalism is true evil of public education and huge poison being fed to helpless children.
