Why do you think the gulag is necessary? Without the price system they need some sort of an incentive to get people to work, that happens to be saving their life.
Either way I don’t think this applies to the United States or any other western country of a mixed economy today. There is also a difference between being lazy and doing work half assed and intentionally missing work. Russian cars were not known for being reliable.
I think you’re being naive.
What I am saying is that we are not at that point yet. If we were it would be a totally different matter.
I certainly won’t have any problem taking state aid if I need it…might as well get back a microscopic fraction of what I’ll pay into the system during my life.
If people try to force the state into collapse, the state will take preventative measures. And we will be at that point.
That is why I am saying, we don’t want the state to collapse. We want the state to dissolve.
We need all sorts of free market institutions in place before that happens, so that we don’t end up replacing a state with a state.
I think one of the most enlightening threads I have read recently is here. Essentially, micro seccession in whatever form we can. Simply sponging off the state won’t make it go away - all it does is provide justification for more “funding” for state programs, which in turn leads to more theft and tyranny.
