Natalie Samatar was born on January 26, 1991, the daughter of a second generation Somali-American man and a woman eight generations removed from American slavery. Her birthday coincidentally also happens to be the day Somalia’s Barre regime fell. She never paid attention in school, and never graduated from any State-approved high school, which accounts for her significantly high intelligence. Natalie spends most of her time reading old books, eating junk food, and arguing with idiots. As hardcore a capitalist as they come, she prefers a simple life, shacking with friends, working odd jobs, and living frugally.
