Hi, new artist here. I painted an homage to the future President Paul. I thought if anyone might apreciate it you guys might. Mises is the Register of the Treasury.
I painted this to raise money for the Paul campaign. 72" x 32" Oil on Canvas
The caricature was one of the main things that stood out to me that I really enjoyed. It creates a playful imagery that is cheery and full of hope. It’s also a very healthy image of an older man displaying a youthful spirit.
I also love seeing the progression of the artwork. Much more disciplined than I am. The prices for the prints are also quite reasonable. I’m a little tight on cash right now but I can actually see me buying one. Can’t promise it but the desire is there. Nice job
Oh yea, I was wondering about the sizes of the prints. They are a different ratio from the actual painting for both the gilcee and paper prints. Is there a white border around the image for both types of prints then?
As far as the portrait goes, I thought of it as an idealization of Paul instead of a caracature. Most currecncy does this with presidents, but if I really went to town id do something more like in my stylized drawings. I appreciate the comments. Maybe next time I’ll do a straight portrait and play up the nobility of the guy I admire. Attatched is a detail of the portrait in case you couldnt make things out. Don’t squint and imagine Obama please.
I plan to post this on ebay soon. Hopefully someone will want it for their own if for nothing else to get something by donating to RP2012. (all proceeds going to the campaign).
Money for prints will be donated to the campaign too. The paper prints will have a white border. Stretched canvas prints will be sized like the original with gallery wrapped edges. Thanks for asking.
Sweet. Yea I like the word idealization better than caricature. It fits more in line with how I was viewing it.
So will the paper print be oriented on the 21x24 dimensions with it’s width matching the 24in side or the 21in? Trying to imagine the border size and how large the image itself will be since it’s .44 ratio on a .89 ratio surface. And would the 21x24 canvas print be something more like 24x11? I really like the idea of a paper print, it relates nicely with existing certificates by being of a similar surface.
Yes you are right about the print sizes. The sizes on the website are standard, but for this piece it will be more rectangular to follow the format of a dollar bill. Thanks for asking.
I hope some here will find this interesting and worthy enough of a donation. All proceeds go to Ron Paul 2012 or Revolution PAC(depending whether I max out or not on individual contribution)
Aw crap ebay removed the listing to since its a new account and they need to confirm more information. Ebay blows. ok once I have it back up Ill repost.
