A modest proposal

As many of you are aware there is now an increasing proportion of the populace that finds itself without work. This has caused quite an inconvenience to our cherished leaders who find themselves pestered with pleas for help while attempting to conduct the normal business of the state at international summits, even when in remote resort areas. While many of the desperate out-of-workers have been successfully integrated into the expanding war program, there remains a large body that refuses to take up arms in exchange for a fair day’s wage.

It occurred to me that despite being unemployed, many of those who beg for help from their leaders still have more than enough wealth to live on for quite some time, thus providing us with a timely opportunity. All that is necessary for the state to do to resolve the unemployment problem is to seize the wealth of the unemployed and make them work to earn it back. There are many means of doing this covertly, the most convenient being inflation of the money through central banking. The people will never notice, and they will happily take an offer to work in whatever industry we create for them in order to acquire an income, income that is paid from money that was seized from them.

With such a setup I believe that we will be rid of this unemployment problem within the year.

Isn’t this already what we’re doing? Tax → subsidize / regulate → expand bureaucracy.

a fine satire indeed

I was anticipating some sort of cannibalism [:(]

Damn someone already had that idea.
