I said she went to a public college. “Public assistance” did nothing but artificially raise the price of college by making it cheaper for middle and upper class free riders to consume public education much cheaper, thereby driving up demand and prices, making life harder for my mother. Moreover, “public assistance” incentivizes people who have NO PLACE IN EDUCATION to get a “higher education,” even though they were miserably failing many of their classes and not learning any marketable skills. This increased demand also drives up prices, making it harder for genuine hard workers like my mother to get a degree. Furthermore, government requirements drive up prices even more by necessitating useless classes like “feminist studies,” which have absolutely no relevance to the vast majority of majors.
Ok so, someone gets a bunch of his friends together and they use their wealth and privelage against you. But since you have no fundamental backbone (meaning govt of the people with strictly enforced contract laws) you cant stand up to them. ANd they become our new feudal overlords. Our democracy has its problems but its kept us feudalism free for two hundred years. There may be a lot of exploitation but there is no actual direct tyranny over the populace. Why is this? Possibly becuase of govt by the people founded upon a timeless constitution with a well laid out set of basic rules?
In what university where is womens studies a liberal education requirement?
Roderick Long explains in his Libertarian Anarchism: Ten Objections:
of course, any court that got the reputation of discriminating in favor of millionaires against poor people would also presumably have the reputation of discriminating for billionaires against millionaires. So, the millionaires would not want to deal with it all of the time. They’d only want to deal with it when they’re dealing with people poorer, not people richer. The reputation effects – I don’t think this would be too popular an outfit.
Worries about poor victims who can’t afford legal services, or victims who die without heirs (again, the Randians are very worried about victims dying without heirs) – in the case of poor victims, you can do what they did in Medieval Iceland. You’re too poor to purchase legal services, but still, if someone has harmed you, you have a claim to compensation from that person. You can sell that claim, part of the claim or all of the claim, to someone else. Actually, it’s kind of like hiring a lawyer on a contingency fee basis. You can sell to someone who is in a position to enforce your claim. Or, if you die without heirs, in a sense, one of the goods you left behind was your claim to compensation, and that can be homesteaded.
I already posted this link before, it’s a shame you didn’t read it.
Private courts and security companies which favor the rich would lose out on business since in every case the poorer person would not want to go use that court. So, as Long points out, in the case of billionaire vs. millionaire, the millionaire wouldn’t want to pay to go to the corrupt court, and instead opt for a noncorrupt private court. Thus, noncorrupt courts would earn more money. Moreover, the poorer people in law cases could sell their claims to richer individuals or share their compensation with the law firm. Successful law firms could pool their resources in order to defeat a rich person to the tune of millions, billions, or even trillions of dollars. Thus, the poor would be able to afford the same kind of law enforcement that even the richest of the rich can afford.
Public universities force you to take a narrow list of “electives.” On this list are often included ridiculous classes like “feminist studies” and “African American studies,” as well as classes which you could take at home for free (e.g. Basketball classes), and classes which are not important for education and which you could get cheaper elsewhere (e.g. MSU has Judo classes - even though Judo is probably the cheapest combat sport and martial art to practice in America).
Have you been to a university. They give you categories you have to take, and you decide what classes in that category favor you. If your mother picked womens studies for her sociology class that was her fault. I personally took general sociology, and then moved on to inequalities in society.
I dont understand what you mean by the poor man selling his stake to pay for his legal costs. Could you elaborate?
