May I suggest that we are already living in anarchy and that our thinking has to change from what it is now.
I think the free market is already here and is being violated by coercers. I don’t think that’s a big leap to suggest that liberty (anarchy) is already here and is being violated by coercers/monopolizers. The government is the biggest geographical monopolizer and thus violator of the current presence of liberty.
Edit: misread the context of Taco’s post.
by the way, the title of this thread in action is anarchy.
How do you stop a PDA that aggresses?
Get a new PDA. A PDA that aggresses is a coercer.
Precisely LibertyStudent. I’m just trying to show that our thinking is muddled. I believe that we are already living in anarchy. My thinking on these topics has become much clearer since I realised this. The “state” is no more than a rogue PDA. What do you do to counter it? What would you do to hinder the aggressing PDA?
it is a rogue PDA. I completely agree.
This just sounds like redefining the problem so that we can pretend it doesn’t exist (inflation indexes anyone?). I’ll consider the world anarchic when there is not a single criminal organization seen as legitimate from the point of view of the majority of the public in any geographic area. Also, it’s not our thinking that needs to change (I speek for myself, I’m not so sure about the rest of the community), the thinking of public needs to change. Government rests on the support of the majority of the public and all that…
If you followed my argumentation in the Conservative discredit thread, there is no state. It is a myth. There is no PDA that is a state.
Sorry, I’m a stickler for that distinction nowadays.
Max Liberty proposed this, and I am sympathetic to the idea.
I wouldn’t hire another PDA. I might change countries. I’ve done a lot of research on it.
That’s certainly something to consider: there is only one state of affairs. And that state of affairs is “anarchy”. It’s not working. Let’s fix it.
I think you just blew my mind.
I think that’s a valid distinction. I think by adding “rogue” PDA it kept the integrity of what a PDA is - intact. It is the same as saying dishonest or corrupt PDA. Therefore, in principle, it is technically not a PDA (if the full definition of PDA is non-state), thus why a rogue or corrupt PDA is more precisely called a state or government.
This also follows logically as to why governments are criminals. The sole murderer in the street is a criminal and so are government individuals who willingly desire statism. They are all the same - all criminals. I think the government is a more sophisticated criminal than the lone coercive gunman, but they have the same coercive mentality - to act against another’s liberty.
To an extent, wilderness. I don’t think that a government can be evil and I certainly don’t think that all people in a government are evil, merely ignorant. That’s why I believe that it is vital to educate about economics. They only become evil when they know what they are doing is wrong and continue doing it.
Strike at it’s ideological support, guerrilla style. Encourage the mockery of the main statist ideas and it’s main supporters. Take as much of the fun and social advantage out of arguing for and standing for those ideas as is possible.
The main ones are:
- Politically correct multiculturalism (The idea that whites, males, heterosexuals, Western cultured, or Christians are evil, despicable, bigoted, always suspect, and oppressive. Anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-discrimination, anti-hate, anti-anti-Semetism, anti-halocaust denial, the deification of figures such as Churchill, Roosevelt, Lincoln, Martin King and so on.)
- Social Justice (The idea that income inequality is evil and is a form of structural violence, Capitalists => greedy, evil, corrupt, oppressive | Workers => good, oppressed. Tax the rich to pay for social programs for the poor)
- Mainstream environmentalism (The idea that the environment is some great common shared resource that must be protected against evil human self-interest, which causes a tragedy of the commons scenario which can only be prevented by government regulation. Also, plants and animals and rocks are our moral equals and we need to show them more respect.)
- Democracy the God (democracy = freedom and justice, democracy isn’t perfect but it is the best form of government we can have, democracies are peaceful. We need to go around the world and smash any new Hitler that pops up into the ground in order to defend democracy.)
- We Need a State to Create Order (And the U.S. to create international security)
If simple (enough for the average person on the street, who has a short attention span and values very little other than personal entertainment) mocking and scornful cases could be made against these ideas (they would have to be entertaining and clever enough to offer personal gratification to the arguer), repeatedly enough through enough various media forms (all those currently popular to the masses. esp. popular music, video games, and motion pictures) to propagate them, a death blow would be dealt to the state, imo.
@ the OP
By the way, this is not an original idea. In Do We Ever Really Get Out of Anarchy, Cuzan answers your question and takes it to it’s logical conclusions. It’s a short, brilliant essay that I highly recommend.
Paradigm shift.
It’s not really a matter of good, evil, or even awareness. There are those who are defined by high-time preference, low impulse control, low attention span, and argue for the sake of arguing. Churning out nonsensical comments is more important for these people than self-reflection, comprehension, and research. You have to go for the people that will take the time to listen you.
The people at the top are without a doubt evil. This is a carefully crafted system of lies and misrepresentations. It is not casual, or coincidental.
They thrive only where there is consent.
To erode consent. And I agree. 100%
Can someone explain to me what a PDA is? I wish I knew more about ecnomics.
It’s a TLA for private defense agency. It is used to contrast a public defense agency, A.K.A a state.
