American Terrorist???

I’m sure everyone is familiar with the Portland Christmas tree bombing attempt. This is the latest “bombing attempt” the FBI has thwarted. Thank goodness they are out there saving us from these bad guys. One kid was 19 the other one was 21, the plots were almost identical. Neither of them had any affiliation to any known terror group except the FBI. Both times the President was alerted before the news went public.Maybe it’s just me but I’m starting to smell a foul odor. What’s your take on it?

What worries me is not that the FBI caught them, but that they caught them because these would-be-terrorists bought bomb-making parts from the FBI to begin with! This whole approach is doomed once the next bunch learn how to build their own bombs from scratch.

And as you stated - the government databases didn’t have either of these people on any watch lists. We can fix this by (a) creating an absolute police state (which I don’t think will fly in this community) or (b) denying these extremists the motivation for engaging in such heinous acts in the first place. I’m partial for plan “b,” personally. One of the best ways we can start is by bringing each and every one of our troops home and keeping our nose out of other people’s business. Honestly, wouldn’t it drive you nuts if you had foreign troops patrolling your streets or some foreign government dictating how to manage your own affairs?

Some haters are just ‘gonna hate and it’s up to a vigilant citizenry to defend against it, but most people out there who detest us do so for the very same reason you or I would should the experience be ours.

I’m with you on plan “b”. What worries me is, this may be more of an attempt to move Homeland Security closer to their objective which may be your plan “a” than a real attempt at making us more secure. Or quite possibly it’s their plan “c”. Which might be, if we can’t find any dyed in the wool terrorist lets offer up a couple of sacrificial lambs to justify our existence.

Whether or not either true is pure conjecture. I certainly hope neither is true, as the thought of such makes me very depressed. Hopefully, with groups like WikiLeaks getting a hold of all sorts of government data, even the most obstinate bureaucrat will know better.
