Except he used the phrase “inevitably” which suggest he was arguing that it pertained to some sequential causality rather than something purely analytic.
And definitions cannot be qualified by ‘often’ they are, by definition, definite.
Also, it’s one thing to say that animal torture is, by definition, violent and therefore those who torture animals are committing violent acts. It’s another thing to say that people who torture animals have a violent nature because torturing animals is a violent act, unless you define a violent nature as ‘committing a violent act’ (in which case it becomes a useless term).
