People who torture animals for fun are inevitably antisocial and often violent.

My point is that the statement ‘People who torture animals… are… often violent’ is an analytic statement, it is true by definition. So I didn’t see what need there was to try and further prove that it is inevitable.

Except he used the phrase “inevitably” which suggest he was arguing that it pertained to some sequential causality rather than something purely analytic.

And definitions cannot be qualified by ‘often’ they are, by definition, definite.

Also, it’s one thing to say that animal torture is, by definition, violent and therefore those who torture animals are committing violent acts. It’s another thing to say that people who torture animals have a violent nature because torturing animals is a violent act, unless you define a violent nature as ‘committing a violent act’ (in which case it becomes a useless term).
