I´ve been thinking of buying my sister, who´s an econimist, a book on Austrian Economics for Christmas so that she could understand sound econimics and what causes businescycles. “Economics in one lesson” seems to be a great book but it´s does´t seem to contain any info on businesscycles. So, do you have any suggestions? I´d prefer a more compact book, I´m not sure she´ll read one that´s several hundres pages.
She’s an economist and she won’t read a couple hundred page book? Economics in One Lesson is much too elementary for someone who is an economist. Time and Money by Roger Garrison is a good introduction to the Austrian business cycle theory and will be easily understood by someone with a neoclassical background.
P.S. It is only 288 pages and you can buy it from the Mises Store or on Amazon.
i was disappointed with economics in one lesson. it was disorganized and did not make a very good case for austrian economics. I don’t feel like someone with minimal knowledge of economics in general would get much out of it.
A couple of hundred pages sounds good but I saw a book in the Mises Store with over 800 pages and that I think is way too much for a beginner. Sometimes the size of a book will scare people off, I think she´ll have more incentive to read if the book is smaller. Time and Money sounds good with 288 pages, thanks for the reccomendation!
