It’s surprising to see that on the HUffington Post. Ariana Huffington is the most irksome person Ive ever heard speak. :S Nice article though. I didn’t want to take this thread off topic by the way, I was hoping that the Plauche dissertation would be a nice supplement to the article because it provides a moral and philosophical basis for liberty and free markets that is really well thought out.
This article is for the superficial people who are hung up on the emotional baggage tied to labels like ‘left’ and ‘right’. And for that I suppose it does a good job.
I have one quasi-socialist friend coming into town soon, and I’ll be hanging out with another (again quasi-socialist) as well. I’m thinking of printing each of them off a copy of The Law by Bastiat. It’s short, pithy, and to the point. I think it should do the job fairly nicely. Hopefully, anyway.
The thing is, both of them are really into civil liberties. They just can’t seem to bring it to the economic sphere. Any literature I give them should push them in that area. I’m not, after all, talking with neo-conservatives here.
…In other words, most Americans.
