I came across this quote in an book from a famous writer trained as a historian.
Aristotle: 'The artistic representation of history is a more scientific and series pursuit that the exact writing of history. For the art of letters goes to the heart of things, whereas the factual report merely collocates details."*
I feel this is a good maxim, to some degree, because it forces the author to bring understanding and economic theory to the table before writing (for better or for worse, depending on how well the author knows economics).
I am interpretting this correctly, or is this just totally incorrect? Opinions?
*I cannot find which of Aristotle’s books this is from (if anyone can, please suggest it).
