What do you think of the 19th century thinker Auberon Herbert. Many have seen him as merely a disciple of Herbert Spencer and no more. What do you think? I think he was a much more original thinker than he has been given credit for, he had a much more positive view of unions than his peers and also had a nationalist feel to some of his work (though a very weak feel). He also supported the idea of a voluntary state.
I actually recently acquired his seminal work “The Right & Wrong of Compulsion By The State” at the used book store I frequent & from little I’ve read thus far think it to be very good.
The book itself (published by LibertyClassics, I think) is also easy on the eyes in a classical way (nice hardcover, maroon spine, etc.), too.
Imo, I would not relegate him to being a mere disciple, as he more or less created Voluntaryism, by taking the ideas of Herbert Spencer a little further.
I would view the ideological similarity of Auberon Herbet & Herber Spencer a bit like how Konkin is to Rothbard when Konkin came up with Agorism.
Herbert was more Spencerian than Spencer, I suppose 
I agree, he ‘out Spencer’s Spencer’ as a contempoary put it. I have the same book!
