Austrian-Chicago Prominence

According to this Freeman article “one of the reasons the Chicago School of free-market economics has been more successful than the Austrian School is because members of the Chicago School have traditionally addressed the entire economics profession in mainstream journals and books, while Austrians typically spend most of their time writing and chatting among themselves.”

The quoted text is from October 1997. Was it true? Is it true? If true in the past and/or present, why did and/or does it occur?

Yes. But that is changing (thanks largely to peter boettke).

Ron Paul’s definitely done a lot to combat that supposed problem.

Oh, and doesn’t the Chicago school still pay some service to central planning? I know Neoclassical is a Chicago-school ancap, so maybe he can clear this up for me.

What exactly is the Chicago School successful at?

From what I undersatnd it’s more a question of the entrance door to the standard journals being locked and chained than lack of knocking.
