What do you make of this?
There is no seated parliment. The article mentions some sort of manager who is running the government probably with limited legislative powers.
The reason is that this is good for Belgium. Now if they could only dump the EU head quarters there they would be well ahead of most countries on the way to prosperity.
If “the nation’s leaders are not even close to an agreement on a new coalition” because different parties prevail in different territorial parts - great, this is a nice reason to split into smaller states! Probably Czechoslovakia-style split can be too drastic to politically sell, but the Swiss model of cantons might be the right step.
The comments on this are great. The author is obviously dismayed at the deadlock. But all the comments hold the opposite position.

The EU is all about secession… as long as it is in Timor or Sudan, well away from its borders. Being the linear descendant of the Soviet Union (as Solzhenitsin rightly warned us shortly before his death) and being dominated by the French model any talk of secession is considered idle talk if not borderline sedition.
