Best book on free banking?

Hi Mises.org

I’m trying to persuade people to the cause of private currency & free banking. This is because I think its alot easier to persuade people who believe in our basic welfare state (i live in britain) to firstly accept free banking and then figure the rest out rather than figure the rest out first and then come to free banking, like I did. i think this is a good idea because one of the main argumetns in favour of the welfare state is it helps people (we all know it doesn’t… come on) but I don’t see how central banking can be argued as a measure for social equality or helping the poor.

But I need to understand this issue in greater depth than I currently do. So what is the best book(s) to buy about free banking and private currency? Unfortunately I can only afford about one book or so a month so I want to get the best I possibly can. Thanks guys!

Btw I have written some stuff about private currency down, if anyone is bored and wants to read it its here, I’d appreciate any stuff I’ve missed out/stuff that is wrong, thanks alot guys.

Best book? I’d say Ethics of Money Production by Jörg Guido Hülsmann @ http://store.mises.org/Ethics-of-Money-Production-P536.aspx

The Mystery of Banking, Murray Rothbard

The Theory of Money and Credit, Ludwig Von Mises

Professor Huerta de Soto devotes the last chapter of his Money, Bank Credit and Economic Cycles to this subject, the book is on PDF thanks to the institute so I suggest you check that out. There’s also Rothbard’s The Mystery of Banking.
