So far to me at least, it’s an Austrian’s wet dream (at least IMHO), many nice little references here and there. The audio tapes are superb, even if some of the ideas are rather inchoate at times.
Basically, to me at least, it seems as if Rapture was the victim of a Randian (objectivist) gone wild..No? Then a Marxist came along and further corrupted the dystopia.
As much as it breaks my heart, I probably will not be venturing down the halls of rapture any time soon as my PS3 broke a while ago.
The first one was a great game and had a fairly strong ideological premise although it could (and should) have been far stronger. Andrew Ryan is just about my favorite character ever though, his speeches were always without parallel.
I must say though that it wasn’t really the objectivist ideology that destroyed the city, it was just slow corruption and Ryan’s abandonment of his ideals under the pressure of the job of managing the city… It his his role in the state that corrupted his vision.
Don’t tell me your PS3 broke from the YLOD? I hope my PS3 isn’t on the chopping block next.
Well my PS3 actually got a virus which killed it, because my computer was down for a while, so I was using the PS3 internet browser for a while and then it got a virus from this random site that I was trying to download music from and well… Yea…
If it makes you feel better though, my PS3 was from the june after it came out, it was about 2 years old when it broke so I dont think youll have anything to worry about.
