Could Ford not bring an Anti-Trust case against the Government and stop the bailout? It hasn’t accepted any money from the Fed and could make an easy case that the bailout “restrict(s) free trading and competition between business entities”. GM and Chrysler would FLOUNDER without the bail-out.
Just a theory though..

I’m not sure if they could. I know that the case would be strong, BUT the government has a way of ruling in it’s own favor. However, such a lawsuit could raise consciousness about the issues asserted in the bailout and change a lot of minds. It would be a great publicity stunt for those who are anti-bailout. However, would it be a libertarian thing to do to support using this immoral government decree against government in this way? I don’t know

You see, Chrysler’s and GM’s newly found boost in productivity (they are producing more, right?) was a result of the state’s action, not of their own initiative.
More likely they’ll just lobby congress for their own piece of the pie, and then they’ll receive one in the name of fairness.
