Does anyone know where the Fed gets the data it uses to arrive at it’s weekly and monthly money supply figures?
I know that the M1 is just a sum of currency in circulation, demand deposits, and so on, but I can only find these numbers at the Fed web site as well. Where does the Fed get the data they use to generate these numbers? I’d like to be able to verify, through my own calculations, the data I see on the Fed’s websites.
Also, does anyone know of a source for DAILY figures of the M1 or other money supply aggregates? All the Fed offers is weekly and monthly averages.
