Capitalism: A Picture

The confusion of capitalism and free markets is so wide. This picture is suppose to represent the interworkings of capitalism but the free market would have nearly none of this nonsense. How do you battle for a cause when we can’t even agree on our terms?

I’m just waiting for the day that Austrian Economics is referred to as Economics.

That picture serves better as an anti-statist message, so it’s kinda tragic that it’s creator is a little confused about where he stands.

Ignore the fools. They are powerless anyway.

I run into this again and again and again, and it’s, sadly, very disheartening. More often than not it seems a lot of people throw around accusations without doing a lot of research. I hate to say it, but a lot of the artistic types are particularly bad about this (I have a feeling because the more artistic abilities are on the side of the brain that is creative and non-logical)…thus why most artwork out there that has to do with politicis is inherently antiCapitalistic.

That and a lot of people just generally look at all the problems in the world, listen to the news, and what big name political individuals say, and arrive at the false conclusion that Capitalism caused it all. Just search for “Capitalism” on DeviantArt sometime; I’d say the vast vast majority of artists have no concept of what Capitalism really is.

Capitalism is a complex system, and if it weren’t there wouldn’t be an economic science to study it. This means that to people who do not know the science, it can appear to be some unfathomable god driving the lives of men capriciously. This creates fear, and fear creates art.
