I was watchin a video about Ron paul and Michael Moore and I seen Moore say this;
I’m sick of the whole capitalism v socialism argument. This is the 21st century. Maybe we need to come up with something new. Do you think we’re smart enough (as he looked at her with a smart-ass face)? It needs to be a system controlled by the people, not the wealthy. And it needs to be based on a strong ethical code.
Taking all of the politics out of it, and taking into account that Moore’s understanding of capitalism is corporatism; would you support that statement?
As I understand the Rothbardian view of capitalism (as both an economic and political structure) it would be controlled by the people (no subsidies to big business, business would only get as big as its quality, nobody is forced to support a war they don’t believe in, etc), and it would be based on a strong ethical code (no aggression, ever).
I think the “third option” is just a cop out so Moore doesn’t have to take flak from the failures of socialism while still critiquing crony-capitalism.
But the core of the philosophies are all binary. You can either recognize homesteading or not. People either own themselves or someone else does. There’s no unique third way.
No, Moore seems to me to simply want power or his friends to have power. He wants to control every aspect of your live. He uses this collectivist speak to attract the ignorant and gullible to his way of thinking.
The whole: “IS A NEW PARADIGM!!” thing is just snakeoil salesman tactics. Its not the old ideas that failed miserably, its a new one (identical to the old one but with different language) that is going to make everybody happy…
