Children as slaves

Is it true that libertarians advocate that parents should be allowed to sell their children as slaves?

look at these two terms:

liberty

slaves

anything clicking?

No. But statists advocate that all humans are slaves of the state.

Absolutely not. Parents do not own their children.

The term “should be allowed” does not enter the libertarian debate, as in a libertarian society no institution has the power of disallowing anyone from doing anything.

The libertarian party in Norway advocate the state because it will arise in an anarchy no matter what, and that the state thus is a necessary evil. They base their views mostly on Ayn Rand.

With that train of thought said “libertarians” may as well advocate UHC and all the other state-provided services.

And rape will happen no matter what, therefore, we should legalize rape?

I think Block (a Libertarian) says that abortion is murder. How can a fetus have rights?

Link me, sir.

Abortion is a topic where not all libertarians agree on the same conclusions.

They say it’s not comparable because it’s not a matter legalizing the state, but designing a state so that criminals cannot use the state to commit crimes. A state that is founded voluntarily and doesn’t commit crimes, is legitimate, according to these guys. And they claim that anarcocapitalists are inconsequent when they are anti IP.

If you want to put them in their place, just sign up here

and enter “generell politikk” (general politics).

if the state is voluntary then nobody has to be apart of it and therefore no point in arguing about it.

State: Judge in its own case. Sounds like a bad idea to me.

Are objectivists libertarians?

No. Libertarianism is a political ideology with different meanings in different countries (in other words, pretty much anywhere but the US, it refers to far left factions). Objectivism is a far more wide ranging philosophy covering ethics, political economy, economics, epistomiology and history. Objectivists despise and reject libertarians (US or otherwise) and libertarians of any sort tend to not associate with Objectivists due to Objectivism’s position on foreign policy.

Children and Rights - Rothbard

Block extending the analysis;

Abortion by Walter Block (3rd way, straight Libertarian solution) - must listen. 5min’s in to get substance.

Sell children? Maybe we should hang it a little lower to make it more difficult:

Should parents be allowed to force their children to go to school? Shluld parents be allowed to force their children to visit a dentist?Or should parents be allowed to kick theier children out of thier home?

And in the case of abortion: When do some cells start to be a human beeing? Are they a human being just because they might develop to be one? (is an egg a chicken?) And when? In the moment the sperm meets the egg? In the moment it is embedet in the placenta. In the moment the heart starts to beat? In the moment the child might survive even outside the mothers whomb? In the moment the child is born? At the moment a child can

Why would you voluntarily send your kid to prison?

Initiate violence? No. But naturally they are within their rights, as they own their home, to say to the child… if you don’t come to the dentist, that is fine - but you will need to choose some other place to sleep tonight. Would it be moral? That is a different question, i.e beyond a political ethic.

“Kick” as in ask to leave? Sure. It’s their property. And just as kids should be able to run away from home if they so choose.

It’s irrelevant. Listen to Block’s lecture.

Governance is good. Rape is not.
