I saw that on counterpunch, but have yet to find the book on shelves.

I personally think its funny. I hate zoos, circuses and sea world. It’s basically the same unconscious sadism as is evident in statism.

Let’s examine if it means something.

Even if they were consciously plotting something. How would a few incidences be any more hopeful than if/when humans stage resistance? Which hasn’t seemed to work for humans. Whenever humans stage resistance, it seems like people just go back to their slavery and demonize the resistor. Which could be the case with animals. Probably cows see another cow escape through a fence and is like “what’s that guys problem? Why does he hate our farm so much? What a self-hating cow that guy is!”
