After I posted “Introducing Shakespeare,” Carolyn Fay, who had forwarded it to me, said she hadn’t posted it herself because she “didn’t think the Shakespeare resources were exactly relevant to the history and econ bent of the MisesAcademy.”
I wonder if this perceived implicit restriction is part of the reason this group is so quiet, so let me clarify what I had in mind.
I didn’t mean MisesAcademy to be limited to Austrolibertarian subjects. I only meant the group’s membership to be limited to homeschooling Austrolibertarians. I do think our common worldview subjects us to some specific issues in educating our children, and that is why I thought we needed our own group for sharing advice and resources. But I also think we can help each other out much more generally in this pursuit.
Please talk about anything you think might be helpful to like-minded homeschoolers.
The only limits that I’ve had in mind (and I don’t want to sound like I get to decide these things alone, so do chime in) are these:
- Let’s not debate religion.
- Let’s not debate evolution.
- Let’s not, in fact, debate what anyone might choose to include in the curriculum for their own children.
But let’s do talk about whatever subjects we have in common, given the criteria by which this group has already been selected.
I hope that clears up any misconceptions I may have promoted by being less than clear at the outset.
