I’ve been thinking about the privatization route for the oceans and what the real-estate market may look like. Of course you have the various strands of mineral depositories (oil, etc) and you have ocean front property that would demand higher prices, yet what do you think the average square mile of ocean would fetch?
I doubt the ocean would be sold in square miles.
I would assume many conservationist movments could purchase large tracks of sea (say, the size of texas) for about what they spend in annual lobbing fees. Minus prime areas that are resource rich, needed for travel or beach-front.
