Well, this is definitely a blast from the past. Crazy to see in Year of Our Lord 2026. I’m embarrassed at the thought of looking through my old posts, probably just as well that I seem to have lost access to my old email.
Anyway, I’m not certain that a forum can operate in a post social media age of AI that increasingly makes me feel dumb, but nevertheless I guess sound off: Is anyone else here? Any old faces? Any new ones? How are people doing?
Hi Neo. Yeah, no doubt, my 15+ year old posts are a treasure-trove of sheer stupidity and embarrassment. Nevertheless, the learning-curve is a real thing. I’ve been stropping my intellectual razor blades elsewhere on the Interwebz and look forward to shredding socialist mind-mush here as well.
We must stand and fight AI, meaning, we must continue participating despite the absurdity of bot-filled forums. Twitter/X was created to squelch human thought to 140-characters (and it has succeeded quite well!)… forums are the last remaining island of Internet freedom in this crazy Clown World dimension. 15 years ago, I could never have even conceived that such devastation was logistically possible. Just goes to prove that, with enough money and fools, you really could build the tower of Babel up to heaven, as they have essentially done a second time now. Clown World has left me with nothing but bile and spitfire…

Yeah, I really can’t believe how bad discussion was. I was, uh, obviously younger at the time but back in the high forum days I really felt like discussion was possible. I didn’t think it could get worse than when facebook seemed like a serious contender for online discussion, but the only thing worse than the censorship of pre-Musk twitter is the hyper-polarized catastrophism of post-Musk X. I got on for the first time in ages with the outbreak of the twelve day war to try and get news on what was happening. Within an hour of scrolling all my non-Middle East news made me paranoid a mob of cannibals were going to be marching on my house in the hour.

Twitter/X is a dystopian nightmare. I never created an account and I only browse it via Nitter or Nitter-clones. Technically, the entire Internet is a dystopain nightmare but since the Internet+COVID killed IRL society, what is left? Sending out messages-in-a-bottle to the Interwebz in the hopes there are some actual humans out there. But maybe everything is already ChatGPT-bots and there is no hope… but we won’t know if we don’t try…
