I’m attending UChicago this fall and have noticed the prevalance of libertarians not only associated with the campus (friedman, etc) but also the number of students (even freshman) like me who also adhere to these ideals. Perhaps this guided their decision to pick UofC over other colleges. Perhaps even, UofC is the most libertarian/Austrian university in the US/world? Of course I said “most”; UofC is known for it’s chicago school of economics which is very different from the Austrian school, but nevertheless it is the closest to it.
I’m curious to know if there are any other colleges out there known for libertarian, particularly Austrian thinking. If I wanted to pursue a PhD, who could i possibly study under who leans Austrian? If I went to UofC again for grad school, I’d get some free marketers yes, but Chicago school nonetheless. Ideally I’d like to stick with the top graduate colleges, but maybe this along with Austrian professors is asking too much. I’m even having trouble picking majors. Economics of course, and perhaps statistics, but I doubt this would mesh well with my Austrian ideals. Note there are no classes on praxeology.
In the current state of academia, do Austrian minded students have to go it alone? I am very much aware of resources like the Mises University, but of course, a week long seminar has its limits.
