My girlfriend wants all prisons abolished, replaced with punishment by death, or in minor cases, amputation. =\
I first heard of Rothbard when I was 18. Which was very recent
When did you guys start hearing about Austrian econ / An-Cap?
I read Leftism: By Erik von Kuehnelt Leddihn when I was 14, which features Mises, etc. In searching for audio lectures by Mr. Kuehnelt Leddihn online, I came upon Mises.org and have been here since.
I was 15.
I was 22 when I first heard of Austiran Economics, mainly because of Ron Paul.
However I considered myself something of a libertarian before that, mainly because of reading Ayn Rand in HS.
I considered myself libertarian when I was 13 (more to the left though), but turned to the free market somewhere within the last year or two (20).
The only thing I read in my early teens was Mad and Cracked magazines.
I think that’s why I am still more fuzzy on economics than I am on topical (or random) humor.
Is that who your avatar is? I thought that was you. Didn’t notice the male symbol.
@Caley McKibbin: The girl in his avatar is…Well, let’s let urban dictionary do the explaining: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Boxxy
I’m not cool enough to know these things.
I always assumed that was a picture of his girlfriend. I just watched one of her videos on YouTube and I’m now considering suicide.
The new porn is hot girls rambling on youtube.
As they say on the internet “video or it didn’t happen!”
It’s a weird and very disturbing fad, in my opinion. All of a sudden, it became normal for grown men to watch videos of teenagers who are, by most standards, partially naked, and to comment voluminously on them. This can’t end well.
When I was in 8th grade me and my friend had read a bit(mostly just his history, maybe For A New Liberty and a few otheres), then again, we were always the nerds of the class. I also got some of the basic AE ideas across to a couple of my classmates, but it was still pretty strange at a school with text books by Howard Zinn(my god that was painful to read). Then again, KathyGurl14 is an An-Cap and she’s just about 15. There’s actually a lot of young people interested in this sort of stuff these days.
I fear she may be corrupted by Rothbards dogmatic ethical theories. It will be a painful recovery, to get out of that.
“I fear she may be corrupted by Rothbards dogmatic ethical theories.”
No such thing. Try again. This time without the baseless assertion.
I disagree. Way to many people fall for that natural rights mysticism.
