David Rockefeller's an Austrian?!

I think you’re being really close minded here. 9-11 does deserve its investigation. You don’t know who the hijackers were or what their connections were. You seem quick to dismiss facts, or, conjectures, and, you end up looking like a bad debater. Look, just because you ran into one idiot that is mindlessly obsessed with the 9-11 truth movement or the CFR stuff doesn’t mean that’s what all conspiracy theorists are. You don’t even know what these conspiracy theories are- or- what they’re about. NO they’re not bullshit. You just called me intellectually dishonest. Look at yourself. You’re labeling something you know nothing about as bullshit. You call yourself an intellectual. My inquiry as to whether you knew anything about conspiracy theories is not irrelevant, because, you obviously seem close minded, and dismisive, which is the opposite of what is needed for the libertarian movement. I’m sorry but I have nothing further with to discuss with you.

Silent, let it go. I addressed your point already.

Are you this incapable of logic around everyone, or just me?

I never said that CFR or 9/11 in and of themselves are bullshit. I was saying that making a big hullaballoo about them is fruitless bullshit, from a political standpoint. And, trust me, that one coworker who I had to deal with every day for a year is by far not my only encounter with the tinfoil hatters. I was involved in the Ron Paul 2008 campaign for 2 years, and that was plenty of experience dealing with conspiracy theorists for me. In any case, like I said before, whether or not I know any conspiracy theorists in real life is totally irrelevant to being able to see how counterproductive bullhorning traffic and sitting around on Internet forums all day posting about the Bilderberg Group is.

I am not incapable of logic. I’m just not so quick to dismiss ideas as just conspiracies, of views that I don’t like, as you seem to be. I don’t have an overwhelming huge prejudice towards conspiracy theories or conspiracy theorists.

facepalm I rest my case.

Do you think it might be a better idea to organise a mass of citizen journalists to cover the next meeting as Charlie Skelton suggested? He was incredibly harrassed when he tried to cover it for the Guardian, though i think strength in sheer numbers may be an advantage the Truth movement could smartly use…

Or perhaps there are even more covert ideas out there…

Your missing the point friend, no one cares here. We talk about economics here and political philosophy. I’m sure there are plenty of people on youtube who want to discuss conspiracies.

Point taken, but in so far as I am a student of Human Action, I will always take into account various ends and means that are being pursued and assess the action I need to take such that it does not harm the personal and societal interests I value.

Hence, I’d like to inform you that I believe such sentiment is counterproductive. We cannot be armchair theorists and allow the world to fall apart and allow rentseekers and megalomaniacs to run complete riot.

How hypocritical. A forum dedicated against the state- seems to not care- if multiple people higher up in the state’s power structure- are meeting in secret- and dismiss it as a conspiracy theory.

I think we need to know what they’re up to. Why would they be so secretive if they had nothing to hide?

You have it all wrong. You can be an Austrian Economist and support rent control, or any dastedly government intervention. It is value free economics. Essentially, a Nazi supporter could have studied the Austrian school - and realises that rent control destroys, so he lobbies the Jews or Poland or whatever to adopt such a policy. Mises believed just by showing the destruction and effects of certain policies, that the individual would be persuaded not too. But that isn’t the case as Murray points out. And Mises would have nothing to say, as an economist, against such actions. But he could, as a person, do so.. lol.

Naturally most Austrian Economists are Austro-Libertarians.

Rockfeller understands the ABCT? Yeah, it wouldn’t suprise me.. when you own the Federal Reserve you tend to realise it’s capability after experimenting with it.

No he wasn’t. He did not study under Mises, NOR did he read any of his work. Lie, lie, lie.

"It is well known that Rand praised and recommended to her readers one and only one group of economists—Austrians such as Ludwig von Mises, Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk, and Henry Hazlitt (Rand 1967, 339–40). It is, therefore, natural to assume that any economist who is also an Objectivist has probably been greatly influenced by the Austrian School. At the very least, one would expect every Objectivist who is interested in economics to at least be familiar with Austrian thinking. What then about Greenspan? Tuccille (2002, 33) claims that Greenspan was “heavily influenced” by Mises, but this seems to be false. There is at least one authoritative source, an individual who has been personally acquainted with Mises, Rand, and Greenspan and who, moreover, is both an Objectivist and an Austrian economist: George Reisman.

Over a period of approximately fifteen years, starting in 1957, I frequently met and spoke with Alan Greenspan, mainly at various Objectivist social gatherings. He never said anything in my presence that indicated that he had read and studied the works of Mises. Nor, as far as I am aware, do his writings or speeches provide any such indication. I believe that he attended Mises’s graduate seminar, which met once a week until 1969, only a few miles from where he lived, on only one occasion, which was when Rand visited the seminar. (Reisman 2005, 257 n. 6)"

Umm, I read that - considering I posted it. [8-)]

That ain’t "Alan Greenspan was an Austrian, he studied under Mises*"* by a LONG SHOT. You’re going to have to do better than that.

Do me a favor, quote that entire paragraph instead of cherry picking. Thanks [:)]

You’re using “hypocritical” incorrectly. The Mises Institute is dedicated to economics – not conspiracy theories. You’ll find that the Ron Paul Forums is not short on conspiracy theorist cranks.

I blame Alex Jones for this type of disinfo.

I see that you’re quickly trying to avoid the issue here by dismissing a theory as a conspiracy theory. Just what is a conspiracy theory? Something the government does that it shouldn’t be doing? If a conspiracy theory is the government not telling us something than what is a conspiracy theory? I’m sorry, but if a lot of economic industrial titans, and, people who have control over different states meet in secret once every year- and it’s been proven that they have- that isn’t just a conspiracy theorist. I’m not using the word incorrectly here. Are you going to be open to the truth? Are you going to be so close minded? A lot of the philosophers of the austrian school spoke about being open minded. If a lot of industrial titans are meeting in secret every year with government elite doesn’t that concern you? I can talk about economics with this if you want. I can go on all day!

What kind of disinfo? How is a fact disinfo? The BBC has reported on this group. Other alternative outlets have been to this group. What makes you think they’re completetely benevolent? How would a bunch of people who think about nothing but plotting wars all day, and, making laws to exert their control and influence of society- and- when they’re under one roof- talking- not affect us?

Conza, did you read my little sentence? Do you think we have a right to know what citizens do in their private life?

Yes to the former. You have no right to privacy, only property. [:)]

“Human Rights” as Property Rights by Murray N. Rothbard

The “right to privacy” can only be derived from property rights. That is, you have the right to privacy in your home, but only because no one has the right to trespass onto your property.

You didn’t answer the second (the first was rhetorical) question. I’m asking if you believe you have a positive right to know the private lives of others as was inferrred.

Yes, that’s what was said / implied. [:)]

Oh no, I DID answer your question. What do all these resources say? Do you think any of them contain positive rights? lol

Want more privacy? Buy more property to protect it…
