Exactly the same “logic” [in actual fact , illogic] appears to pervade the thinking of many here, not only concerning 911 itself, but also it would appear, this latest Xmas media/government extravaganza that is the subject of this thread.
In fact, with only a half a handful of exceptions apparent, regarding 911 and related events such as the supposed latest plane terrorist “event”, laminustacitus’ false logic appears to overwhelmingly dominate the entire libertarian/ an-cap/ “austrian” community both here and elsewhere.
For me, given the obvious intelligence of many here, and the fanatical attention to correct thinking procedure in all matters economic , this special, “911 logic”, or “laminustacitus logic” appears a little inconsistent.
Well, yes, states exist within the social myths that make them possible. The Israeli state exists because of the mass Zionist migration into Israel in the decades between the Balfour declaration and the wars of 1947 and 1948 when innumerable Palestinian civilians fled and lost their lands to Israeli settlers. The conflict has evolved this way and that since 1948 but the basic theme is one of expropriation of Palestinians by the Israeli state on behalf of Israelis and retaliatory violence by Palestinians against Israelis. Strip away the idea of national borders and the whole thing becomes an absurd and unnecessary tragedy writ large. All Jews interested in living in the land of Palestine could have purchased land there and moved there. There was no need to create a new head of Leviathan whose sole purpose is to use public revenues to expropriate one class of individuals on the basis of religion, ethnicity, race and national affiliation for the benefit of another class of individuals on the basis of their religion, ethnicity and so on. Of course, this is what every state does but the Israeli state being such an artificial construction is like trying to mix oil and water. The conflict over the Kashmir region bears some similarities in that the motivation for each state’s continuation of aggression is a desire to eventually annex the disputed territory for the purposes of taxing the citizenry and advancing the economic interests of the lobbies which hold sway within that government. It’s nothing more than a gang turf war fought with howitzers and RPGs instead of Escalades and FALs.
Most despicable is the attempt of the myth-makers to cast these conflicts as somehow having something to do with ideology or religion. This has the patina of plausibility since statist myths are the medium in which the State acts and moves. But the State is not the myths and the ideology of the populace. It consists of a very flesh-and-blood group of political opportunists who leverage the popular myths to their own advantage, namely, by taxing the public and using those revenues to advance their own private interests.
